ADVISORY
The advisory committee at ISAC aims to strengthen international programs and experiences at Berkeley by consulting campus departments to improve their programs for international students. Our team consults the Berkeley International Office (BIO) and the UC Berkeley Career Center in order to improve their existing programs, such as the international student orientation and peer mentorship program. Some of our projects we have worked on and are still working on include information gathering and consulting for BIO as well as developing a platform to connect international students prior to organization based on their interests. By improving international student platforms within departments and organizations at UC Berkeley, we want to ensure that all international students have the necessary guidance and opportunities, and that our needs are addressed.
ALUMNI NETWORK
ISAC’s alumni network committee focuses upon the professional development of international students at UC Berkeley. Working closely with the career center, the committee aims to address the international students’ needs in developing their career goals. Our current projects focuses upon providing career orientated resources such as a career profile series to share the experiences of UC Berkeley’s international students in internships, graduate school and even entrepreneurship. Additionally, we are providing tips upon various topics such as interviews and networking skills through infographics. Our projects have also included a partnership with International Students Association at Berkeley (ISAB) to launch iLink, an international alumni networking night, in effort to provide students the opportunity to connect with international alumni around the Bay Area from various industries. Focusing on our long term goal of providing one-on-one mentorship from international alumni for international students at UC Berkeley, the committee hopes to provide ample and useful resources to aid the career pathways of international students.
SOCIAL MEDIA
The social media committee at ISAC aims to engage, enrich and empower International students’ experiences at UC Berkeley. Our team expands students’ connections to resources, the Berkeley international office and other international students here on campus to make their transition to Berkeley more smooth and comfortable. Some of our projects include making video projects interviewing international students about their experiences at Berkeley and advice they would give to incoming International students, creating a “Second Impressions” Facebook page that explores the stories of unique International individuals and developing an International Students Hub Facebook Page that displays International Students’ talents, backgrounds and events. Our platforms include Facebook, our Club Website and Youtube. We work tightly with other International Clubs and Offices here on campus and ultimately try to make incoming and current International students’ lives at Berkeley an enriching and pleasant one.
